A lot of things happened between that sentence and these next thoughts, but I'd really just like a moment to say I'm so glad and thankful that my husband is all right - he's bruised up but he's alive!
I was thinking that in any one instant our inevitable future could come and get us, either sooner or later. We need to be prepared for that future especially with a baby on the way. I don't really know where to start, except that the general direction involves estate and financial planning, knowing our assets, liabilities, and debt, and making sure that in the event something happens to one of us, the other and our child(ren) are covered.
We're going on a trip to Taiwan in 2 days, so I don't think there's much we can do in the next 48-72 hours with regards to estate and financial planning. We'll probably be busy talking with the claims adjustor and our insurance agent about the accident in addition to packing and making sure our cats are taken care of while we're out. God willing we come back safely, and if we do I fully expect to get the ball rolling on this!
I've never been so scared for my husband's life and safety as I was today and I fully intend to face this fear straight in the face if something should ever happen to him prematurely!
